Job summary

Aagard in Minnesota is seeking a Lathe Machinist for night or weekend shifts to operate CNC mills and lathes, set up tooling, and produce precision parts to prints. You will read CAD drawings, verify tolerances, and document activities in our ERP system while maintaining safety and efficiency on the shop floor.

The role emphasizes quality, problem solving, and proactive communication to prevent defects and downtime.

Qualifications

Must have high school diploma or associate degree in machine tool technology or related field; plus 1 year machinist experience or equivalent.
Ability to read CAD drawings and blueprints.
Demonstrated ability to set up and operate CNC equipment.
Ability to read and interpret measuring instruments.
Experience with fabrication and routine CNC machinery maintenance.
Strong math skills (algebra and trigonometry) for part measurement.
Safety awareness and proactive issue identification.

Responsibilities

Operate CNC Mills, Lathes, and related equipment to produce parts to exact specs.
Modify and optimize machining code for performance and quality.
Record part movement, run time, and material usage in ERP.
Monitor machine performance and adjust workflows to maintain throughput.
Verify part quality against prints and tolerances.
Troubleshoot machining issues to prevent defects.
Document quality findings and communicate issues for corrective action.
Perform routine preventive maintenance and maintain a safe work area.
Contribute to continuous improvement in quality, efficiency, and safety.
