Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Needham is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for night on-call coverage in Surgical Services. The APP will function primarily remotely from 7pm to 7am, with occasional in-person reporting if care cannot be triaged remotely.

Responsibilities include admissions, assisting in operations, postoperative care, and discharge planning, under supervision of the Chief of Surgery and attending surgeons. Requires NP or PA credentials and ACLS/BLS, with RNFA for NP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field required.
• Nurse Practitioner license or Physician Assistant license required.
• RNFA certification for Nurse Practitioners preferred.
• Active BLS and ACLS certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive focused history and physical exams for surgical patients.
• Assist in evaluation, admission, and perioperative care.
• Assist surgeons in the operating room and in perioperative management.
• Educate patients about disease, treatments, and potential side effects.
• Perform procedures such as wound care, IV starts, and blood draws as privileges allow.
• Coordinate discharge planning and follow-up care.
