Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health in Needham seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for night remote on-call coverage of Surgical House Patients from 7pm to 7am, with shifts 12, 24, 36, or 48 hours, seven days a week.

Under the Chief of Surgery, the APP performs initial assessment, assists in surgery, and manages perioperative care from admission to discharge, covering BID-Needham patients credentialed in Surgery and collaborating with attending surgeons.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Nurse Practitioner required.
Nurse Practitioner license required.
RNFA certification required for NP candidates.
Post-graduate surgical APP experience (0–1 years) required.
Strong analytical abilities and data interpretation skills.
Experience with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).

Responsibilities

Performs comprehensive focused history and physical exams on surgical patients admitted through the ED or held for Observation.
Performs and interprets diagnostic procedures and identifies pathophysiologic processes.
Formulates differential diagnoses and working diagnoses from data.
Writes initial orders and coordinates treatment plans with attending physicians.
Assists in the operating room and with perioperative care.
Performs specialized procedures and responds to codes as needed.
Collaborates with ED physicians for surgical consultations.
