Job summary

Veolia Group in Michigan is seeking a Wastewater Operator to control the plant's systems and equipment to purify water for industrial discharge. The role requires strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work 12-hour night shifts.

Responsibilities include operating pumps and valves, testing samples, and analyzing data to prevent non-compliance. You will coordinate with the facility and Veolia management, perform maintenance tasks, and maintain detailed records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Wastewater licensing or certification is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google equivalents.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work day/night shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete operational coverage of the Wastewater facility during shifts (primarily 12-hour night shifts).
• Operate and control electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate water flow; collect and test wastewater samples.
• Analyze lab data to identify treatment issues and implement process changes for compliance; keep accurate records.
• Coordinate with other operators, the Wastewater facility, and Veolia management to maintain equipment and determine treatment methods.
• Complete preventative maintenance and assist with minor maintenance projects including pump repair and piping installation.
• Compile data for daily/weekly/monthly operating reports for Veolia and the Wastewater facility; may report to EPA or state bodies.
• Coordinate with Veolia purchasing to order supplies and with Facility to schedule third-party maintenance.
