Job summary

Narragansett Bay Commission in East Providence is seeking an Operator I for the Bucklin Point WWTF night shift.

You will take readings, operate pumps and valves, respond to alarms, and maintain a safe, clean work environment. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, and within a year obtain an Operator-in-Training Grade I license for wastewater treatment; a valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED as required by RI regulations.
• Experience in basic maintenance and following instructions.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for coworker and public interaction.
• Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation principles.

Responsibilities

• Take and record readings of plant equipment (temperature, pressure, vacuum).
• Operate pumps, valves, gates, and other plant equipment; respond to alarms.
• Clean equipment and facilities; maintain a safe work environment.
• Assist with maintenance, repairs, and installation of plant equipment.
• Receive hazardous materials and complete corresponding paperwork.
• Drive facility vehicles as required.
• Medium work: exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and up to 20 lbs. constantly.
