Job summary

Narragansett Bay Commission in East Providence, RI is seeking an Operator I for the Bucklin Point WWTF. The role includes taking and recording instrument readings, operating pumps, valves, gates, and switches, and responding to alarms according to procedures while maintaining a safe, clean work area.

Responsibilities also include collecting samples, performing standard tests, assisting with maintenance and installation, handling hazardous materials paperwork, and, when required, driving facility

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
OIT Grade I wastewater certification within one year.
Valid driver’s license required at time of hire.
Ability to follow instructions and maintain sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

Takes and records readings of plant equipment (temperature, pressure, vacuum).
Operates pumps, valves, gates and switches to run equipment.
Responds to alarms and takes corrective action per procedures.
Cleans equipment and maintains a safe working area.
Assists with maintenance, repairs and installations on plant equipment.
Receives hazardous materials and completes necessary paperwork.
May operate facility vehicle on/off site; heavy lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally.
