Job summary

Parkland Community Health Plan seeks a Unit Technician for the Observation Unit on the night shift. The role coordinates patient care, handles clerical duties, and serves as the primary information resource for staff, patients, and families.

You will perform phlebotomy, assist nurses, take vital signs, and help with admissions, transfers, and discharges while maintaining patient-centered care and infection prevention standards.

Qualifications

• Must have completed or hold one of the following: a formal nurse aide course, a current certified nurse aide registry, a medical assistant course, a current medical assistant certificate, a patient care technician course or a current patient care technician certificate.
• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited school of professional nursing and have documentation of basic fundamentals of nursing from the school.
• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy tasks and draws blood for testing.
• Coordinates patient care and clerical needs as the unit's primary contact for staff, patients, and families.
• Performs patient care activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse, including hygiene, injections, venipuncture, vital signs and ROM exercises.
• Admits, transfers and discharges patients, manages room assignments, and processes patient records and valuables.
