Job summary

Parkland Community Health Plan seeks a Unit Technician to serve as the primary contact for the unit, coordinating patient care and clerical tasks. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, vital signs, basic hygiene care, injections, venipunctures, and assisting nurses.

Qualifications

• Completed CNA/CMA course or equivalent.
• Enrolled in an accredited nursing program with fundamentals.
• Graduate from an accredited nursing school.
• CPR certification (Heartsaver) within 90 days of hire.
• Experience in acute care hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy tasks and lab draws as needed for the unit.
• Coordinates patient care and clerical needs as the primary unit contact.
• Provides basic hygiene care, injections, venipunctures, sterile and unsterile treatments, vital signs and ROM exercises.
• Transports meals to patients and assists with meal delivery.
• Acts as patient advocate, maintains patient rights and confidentiality.
• Prepares and processes patient files and creates reports for unit decisions.
• Notates and records patient status and changes, communicates with nurses and health team.
• Admits, transfers, and discharges patients and manages supplies.
