Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a dedicated patient care technician for the night shift in the 8 W Medical Surgical unit. You will work under supervision to perform essential nursing support tasks, including phlebotomy, vital signs, wound care, and assistance with activities of daily living.

Responsibilities include documenting care accurately, maintaining infection control practices, and collaborating with nurses and the health care team to ensure positive patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be actively licensed in Michigan as a Nurse Assistant (CNA) and complete a Phlebotomy Training Program.
• Completion of a state approved Patient Care Technician (PCT) program OR equivalent.
• BLS certification from AHA/ARC/Canadian equivalent required before start date, valid 60 days beyond start date.

Responsibilities

• Cares for patients with clinical competence, following care plans and reporting changes to RN.
• Performs phlebotomy with proper ID, labeling, and lab submission following safety procedures.
• Provides psychosocial support and assistance with activities of daily living.
• Documents care immediately after procedures per unit guidelines.
