Under a Clinical Nurse, you will support the patient care team, help maintain a safe and clean environment, and assist with patient flow and documentation. The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, CPR and BLS where applicable, and familiarity with medical terminology and infection control principles.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPR certification may be required; may complete Unit Secretary training program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or after IU Health PCA training completion may be required.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Knowledge of infection control principles.
• Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the direction of a Clinical Nurse.
• Provide unit clerical duties and assist with patient care team when needed.
• Schedule tests and procedures for patients and maintain patient records.
• Sign patients in and out of the unit and coordinate with care team.
• Provide information and directions to physicians, patients, families, customers and vendors.
• May be responsible for ordering, receiving and delivering equipment and supplies.
• May provide continuous observation including suicide prevention.
