Job summary

AECOM is seeking Onsite Transportation Monitoring Operators for the Fairfax, VA TOC. This role operates on a 12-hour shift, with 1st and 2nd shifts available, stationed at the client site. You will monitor ITS devices, respond to incidents, and coordinate with VDOT and partner agencies.

The position emphasizes strong customer service, ability to work in a high‑volume call environment, and experience with ATMS platforms. Requires background checks and drug screening; on-site only.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Shifts include 1st and 2nd shifts; schedule flexible.
• Must-pass background checks and fingerprint checks per VA/VDOT requirements.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and participate in random drug testing.
• Must be able to operate a computer and monitoring equipment all shift.

Responsibilities

• Use ATMS software to monitor CCTV cameras and dynamic message signs for travel time and safety messages.
• Monitor video and information sources for events affecting traffic flow and safety.
• Log events impacting traffic flow and safety in software applications.
• Dispatch Safety Service patrollers using two-way radios.
• Provide directions and information on traffic events to staff and partners.
• Communicate with agencies and wrecker services to monitor and clear incidents.
• Answer phone calls and provide information to VDOT personnel and other agencies.
