Job summary

Duke University Health System in Durham, NC seeks Surgical Technologists to support the operating room and ambulatory settings, with Level I and II responsibilities focused on sterile technique and teamwork.

New graduates enter Level I (0–18 months) and may advance to Level II (6–12 months). BLS is required for both levels. Relocation assistance and a $10,000 commitment bonus are offered to eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or maintains an accredited Surgical Technologist certification (NCCT or NBSTSA).
• Or evidence of completion of an appropriate training program for Surgical Technology in the United States Military.
• Level I: 0–18 months of full-time equivalent experience.
• Level II: 6–12 months of Surgical Technology or relevant military experience.
• BLS certification required for both Level I and Level II.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain sterile field; ensure sterile environment throughout procedures.
• Assist with instrumentation, counts, and readiness for surgical cases.
• Prepare operating room with appropriate instrumentation, equipment and supplies.
• Take calls and rotate shifts as required under supervision of the RN/ physician.
• Support preoperative and postoperative care in ambulatory settings as needed.
