Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision. You will assist with activities of daily living, transport patients, and help maintain a safe, clean environment, promoting a family-centered experience.

Responsibilities include basic phlebotomy, vital signs, glucose testing where permitted, and assisting with examinations and procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification in Basic Life Support or HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire.
• Prior patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in direct patient care by providing basic physical care to promote patient comfort as directed by the Registered Nurse.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and bed making in a timely manner.
• Safely transports patients and escorts them for tests, procedures, and discharge.
• Transports specimens and items throughout the facility.
• Perform glucose monitoring, urine and stool testing, and maintain quality control testing logs.
• Perform routine phlebotomy services (excluding line draws).
• Record vital signs and other patient data as required.
• Provide respiratory support and encourage use of Incentive Spirometer.
• Notify RN of patient concerns and assist with examinations and procedures.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment and equipment.
