Job summary

WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital is seeking a patient care assistant to perform nonprofessional direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role supports high-quality patient care in coordination with licensed medical staff.

Responsibilities include observing patient conditions, assisting with admissions/discharges, recording vitals, maintaining cleanliness, and helping with exams and nutrition communication.

Responsibilities

• Observes and reports all patient concerns/changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately.
• Assists the Registered Nurse with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Records the vital signs, assists in personal hygiene and other patient comfort measures. Records oral intake and outputs.
• Assists in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment to help prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
• Reports necessary equipment repairs to appropriate personnel.
• Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Communicates nutrition issues to the RN.
• Assists department with administrative tasks and answers patient call bell.
