Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Health System in Beachwood, OH, seeks a Communications Officer to join the Police-Operations team. You will process communications, monitor surveillance systems, and provide vital information to responders in a 12-hour night shift (6:00 pm–6:00 am) schedule with a two days on/two days off rhythm.

As a member of the Security Operations Center, you will coordinate incidents, monitor multiple platforms, and support urgent public safety needs across Cleveland Clinic facilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and two years of experience in a high-volume communications center, PBX operator or public or private law enforcement/security agency OR relevant education, public safety dispatching or emergency communications certifications, formal training, and directly related experience may be considered
• Apply advanced situational awareness, rapid information synthesis, critical thinking, and decisive judgment in a fast-paced environment where multiple emergencies and operational incidents may occur simultaneously.
• Evaluates incomplete, conflicting, or rapidly changing information and makes time-sensitive decisions that may affect safety and operations.
• Maintain operational awareness of multiple communications systems, radio networks, alarm platforms, intelligence tools, and security technologies simultaneously while in a high-stress environment.
• Coordinate response activities during workplace violence events, medical emergencies, criminal incidents, behavioral emergencies, infrastructure disruptions, and other critical situations.

Responsibilities

• Process incoming and outgoing communications in the Security Operations Center; monitor cameras, alarms and surveillance equipment to provide real-time situational awareness and support responders.
• Receive, record, prioritize, and respond to security, police, emergency, and routine service calls; transmit radio communications and process activations.
• Monitor alarm signals across multiple platforms (video management, access control, panic alarms, etc.) and maintain enterprise-wide awareness of incidents and threats.
• Coordinate real-time police, security, fire, EMS, and emergency response incidents; support responses to critical events and coordinate with internal and external agencies.
• Process authorized requests for confidential information; collect, analyze, and disseminate intelligence to leadership and responders; draft mass notifications.
