Job summary

Methodist Richardson Medical Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to oversee ABG, PFTs, ventilator support, oxygen and aerosol therapies, and airway maintenance under indirect supervision. The candidate will treat both adults and neonates and must meet state licensing and board registration requirements.

The ideal applicant will be a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program, hold BLS and ACLS, obtain NRP within 1 year of hire, be Texas-licensed, and have 6 months

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program
• Current Basic Life Support certification
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification
• NRP/ Pediatric ACLS must be obtained within 1 year of hire
• Licensed in good standing as Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Texas Medical Board
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care
• 6 months respiratory care experience preferred; new graduates encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration, weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR, and mechanical ventilation
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including ABG analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and ECGs
• Prepares a treatment evaluation including bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview, and chart review
• Uses critical thinking to determine appropriate actions
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient information
• Assembles, checks, operates, and troubleshoots all cardiopulmonary equipment
• Participates in infection control, safety, and quality assurance
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas
• Uses appropriate patient scripting as evidenced by observation and satisfaction
• Performs other duties as required
