Job summary

Methodist Richardson Medical Center in Dallas area is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to perform ABG, PFTs, ventilator support and airway maintenance for adults and neonates. The role operates under indirect supervision and follows departmental policies.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree from an accredited Respiratory Care Program, be licensed in Texas, and have BLS/ACLS; NRP/PALS (within 1 year) is required after hire, with prior NBRC registration preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification required.
• NRP and Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• 6 months respiratory care experience preferred, new graduates encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration, weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, and mechanical ventilation.
• Carry out prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures: ABG, pulse oximetry, PFTs, ECGs.
• Prepare treatment evaluations with bedside assessment and medical record review.
• Use critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interpret CXR, ABG, and PFT data.
• Assemble, check, operate and troubleshoot CPR equipment, ventilators, monitors, and gas analyzers.
• Participate in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Perform cleaning and maintenance of cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Utilize appropriate patient scripting to improve satisfaction.
