Job summary

Methodist Richardson Medical Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for the 12X3 Night shift, serving adults and neonates with a range of respiratory therapies and diagnostics.

The ideal candidate is a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program, licensed in Texas, with BLS and ACLS active, and NRP to be obtained within 1 year of hire. New graduates are welcome to apply as part of a Magnet-designated hospital network.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification is required.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support — must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience is preferred but new graduates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including ABG analysis, pulse oximetry, PFTs and ECGs.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation including bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview and review of medical records.
• Uses critical thinking to guide actions and decision-making.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient information.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots all cardiopulmonary equipment.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas.
• Utilizes customer scripting as evidenced by observation and patient satisfaction.
• Performs other duties as required.
