Job summary

Waukesha County's Department of Public Works is seeking six temporary Patrol Worker positions for the late-Fall 2026 to late-Winter 2027 season. Duties include maintenance and repair of highways, roads, bridges and right-of-ways with snow removal and de-icing responsibilities.

The role requires a Class B CDL (A CDL with air brake endorsement within six months is preferred) and the ability to work two shifts, 7:00 pm–3:00 am, with onboarding possibly in the first week during day shift.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Class B CDL required prior to application; Class A CDL with air brake endorsement within six months of hire preferred.
• Experience operating trucks/equipment for road maintenance is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair highways, roads, bridges, and right-of-ways.
• Perform snow removal and de-icing operations as part of winter duties.
• Respond to emergencies such as snowstorms and windstorms as needed.
• Operate a variety of trucks and equipment for road maintenance and repair.
