Job summary

Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, NY seeks an RN Supervisor (Clinician) to lead a 12S unit on the night shift. The role supervises registered nurses and ancillary staff and provides direct patient care when needed, reporting to the Nurse Manager.

The candidate will oversee care delivery, develop assessments and care plans, supervise staff performance, and ensure high standards of nursing care. NY RN license and BLS required.

Qualifications

• Experience: At least two years post-licensure acute care experience.
• Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing program; BLS certification required.
• License: Current NY RN license to practice as a registered nurse.

Responsibilities

• Assumes Charge RN role on unit and provides first level supervision to nursing staff.
• Assumes responsibility for delivery of nursing care to all assigned patients.
• Develops initial nursing assessment and plan of care within eight hours of admission.
• Prepares daily patient care assignments based on patient needs and staff credentials.
• Administers medications and treatments according to physician orders.
• Provides patient/family teaching and ensures understanding."
• Preceptor role in orientation of nursing staff and students.
