Job summary

Stony Brook University seeks a Registered Nurse to join the 9 South MICR/RCU team on the night shift. The RN will deliver direct patient care, administer medications, develop care plans, and educate patients and families within an acute care setting.

Qualified candidates must hold a NYS RN license and a Bachelor’s in Nursing, with preferred 1+ year hospital acute care experience. Pre-employment screenings and references are required as part of the hiring process.

Qualifications

• RN license in NYS required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
• At least one year of hospital acute care experience preferred.
• Pre-employment checks including references and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition and nursing needs; coordinate care with other health disciplines.
• Develop a written individualized plan of care including discharge planning.
• Administer direct care and medications as needed by the patient.
• Provide patient/family education and ensure documentation in medical records.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to the charge nurse/clinician.
• Participate in unit/hospital quality assurance activities.
