Job summary

Stony Brook University is seeking an RN Supervisor (Clinician) for the MICU to lead a nursing team on the night shift. The role includes supervision of registered nurses and ancillary staff, delivering direct patient care as needed, and ensuring adherence to unit standards of care.

The position requires acute care nursing experience, NY licensure, and BLS certification. A BSN is preferred and unit-specific certifications are encouraged.

Qualifications

• At least two years post-licensure acute care experience.
• Leadership and supervisory capabilities.
• Strong clinical assessment and planning skills.

Responsibilities

• Assumes Charge RN role on unit and provides first-level supervision.
• Delivers nursing care and ensures care plans meet patient needs.
• Prepares and assigns daily patient care tasks based on staff capabilities.
• Administers medications and treatments per physician orders.
• Documents teaching and ensures patient education aligns with care plan.
• Mentors orientation of nursing staff and evaluates competencies.
