Job summary

Salem Health Hospitals & Clinics is seeking a patient placement RN in House Operations. You will coordinate admissions, intra-hospital transfers and external requests to ensure timely, appropriate patient placement across the hospital.

You will collaborate with physicians, ED care managers and nursing leaders to assess care needs, screen with InterQual criteria, and support EMTALA compliance while managing bed utilization and daily flow, in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Oregon (unencumbered).
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum of three years' broad clinical RN experience.
• Internal applicants without a BSN must enroll in BSN program unless they hold an MSN.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient placement, admissions, transfers and bed management to ensure timely care.
• Collaborate with physicians, ED care managers and nursing leaders to assess care levels and transitions.
• Screen patients using InterQual criteria and medical necessity guidelines for admission status and placement.
• Support EMTALA compliance in transfer decisions and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in daily bed meetings and monitor bed utilization and admission flow.
