Job summary

Corewell Health Southfield Center is seeking a Night Shift Bed Manager RN to coordinate patient throughput, bed assignments, and transfers in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe and timely patient placement while maintaining patient-family centered care.

You will utilize EPIC for bed management, communicate with staff, and contribute to process improvements to reduce delays and enhance safety.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree from an accredited nursing program.
• BSN or higher preferred.
• 3 years of relevant nursing experience in an acute hospital setting.
• Current Michigan RN license upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess and prioritize bed placement and transfers based on urgency and bed availability.
• Plan and direct patient placement requests by evaluating discharges, transfers and bed status.
• Communicate with medical staff and teams to optimize patient placement; escalate barriers.
• Maintain service levels by handling calls promptly; follow standards and procedures.
• Demonstrate EPIC bed-management proficiency and delegate tasks as needed.
• Collaborate with administration to resolve census-related bed issues.
• Lead in professional practice; mentor peers and participate in orientation.
• Stay updated on healthcare trends affecting patient placement; pursue improvement initiatives.
