Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Silver Spring, MD seeks an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Joint & Spine Unit. This full-time night shift role focuses on patient education, collaboration with surgeons, therapists and case managers to ensure optimal outcomes.

You will contribute to a multidisciplinary team and support transitions from hospital to home, with emphasis on pain management and patient education. A BSN is preferred and MD RN licensure is required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree required (BSN preferred).
• Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association).
• Superb interpersonal, communication and collaboration abilities.
• Competency in electronic patient management systems.
• At least one year of RN experience in an acute care setting; rehab/surgical experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Effectively communicate with the patient, family and healthcare team.
• Provide education to post-surgical Joint & Spine patients.
• Interfaces regularly with OT/PT/Case Management to enhance the patient experience and transition patients to home setting.
• Ability to collaborate with patient in the proper management of pain.
