Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Float Pool Nights across Kishwaukee and Valley West Hospitals in Illinois. The role requires maintaining ANA standards, coordinating care, and delivering evidence-based nursing practices for acutely ill patients.

The position emphasizes collaboration with families and health teams, adherence to ethics and compliance, and ongoing professional development through certifications like ACLS, PALS/ENPC, and TNCC.

Qualifications

• BSN or ADN with commitment to obtain BSN within three years
• Current Illinois RN license
• BLS certification; ACLS and PALS/ENPC & TNCC within one year for ER
• Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and analytic skills
• Preferred: ER-specific certifications like Trauma Nurse Specialist or Emergency Communications RN

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for acutely ill patients.
• Coordinate care with patient, family, and health team members.
• Develop individualized care plans and document outcomes.
• Direct care and utilize any assistants appropriately.
• Collaborate with patients, families, physicians and staff; communicate care decisions.
• Participate in governance, committees, and unit projects.
• Document patient responses and adjust care plans accordingly.
• Use evidence and research to guide practice decisions.
