Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the 4th Surgery Med Surg Unit, a 45-bed area delivering preoperative and postoperative care for adult and geriatric patients. The role requires 1 year of clinical nursing experience and BSN preferred.

Expect 36 hours per week on 3 x 12-hour shifts (7pm–7am). The unit emphasizes safety, teamwork, and evidence-based practices, with opportunities for professional development and certification maintenance.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
• Active RN license with privileges to practice nursing in the state.
• 1 year of clinical nursing experience typically required.
• BSN preferred per unit requirements.

Responsibilities

• Engages in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices.
• Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families through the continuum of care.
• Monitors patient conditions, adjusts care plans, and collaborates with the care team to influence outcomes.
• Upholds and promotes a culture of safety.
• May administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely and according to protocols.
• Maintains accurate, timely EHR documentation and may float to other units as needed.
