Job summary

Methodist Southwest Medical Center in Dallas is hiring a Registered Respiratory Therapist to perform ABG, PFTs, ventilator support, oxygen and aerosol therapies, and airway maintenance for adults and neonates.

Shift is 12x3 nights on a rotating schedule with hours from 0630 to 7 PM/AM. Requirements include degree from an accredited program, BLS/ACLS, Texas license, NBRC registration, and ongoing certification in NRP/PALs within one year of hire.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program
• Current Basic Life Support certification required
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification required
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support— must obtain within 1 year of hire
• Licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration, weaning, aerosol/humidity therapy, IPPB, incentive spirometry and airway maintenance.
• Performs prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostics: ABG, pulse oximetry, PFTs, EKGs.
• Prepares treatment evaluations with bedside assessment and chart review.
• Interprets CXR, ABG and PFT data; uses critical thinking for actions.
• Maintains and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment; ensures infection control and safety.
• Supports patient satisfaction with appropriate scripting and customer care.
