Job summary

Methodist Richardson Medical Center in Richardson, TX, is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide a range of respiratory therapies and diagnostic tests for adults and neonates. You will work under indirect supervision per departmental policies, with responsibilities including ABG, PFTs, and ventilator support.

The role requires an accredited Respiratory Care Program graduate, current BLS and ACLS, and NBRC registration. NRP/PALS must be obtained within a year.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required.
• NRP/PALS must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Texas license as Respiratory Care Practitioner in good standing and NBRC registration.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience preferred, new graduates encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration, humidity therapy, aerosol therapy and airway maintenance.
• Conducts arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, PFTs and electrocardiograms as prescribed.
• Prepares treatment evaluations with bedside assessment and chart review.
• Interprets CXR, ABG and PFT data for patient management.
• Operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment (ventilators, oxygen analyzers, delivery devices, gas analyzers).
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs routine cleaning/maintenance of equipment and work areas.
• Uses patient scripting to improve satisfaction.
