Job summary

Methodist Richardson Medical Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for the 12x3 night shift. The role requires graduation from an accredited respiratory care program, current BLS/ACLS, and NBRC registration. New graduates are welcome with ACS/NRP/PALS within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities include administering respiratory therapies, conducting ABG/PFT/ECG diagnostics, ventilator management, and ensuring infection control. Texas licensure in good standing is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification is required.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support — must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Licensed as Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board in good standing.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics: oxygen administration/weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures: ABG, pulse oximetry, PFTs, ECG.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation: bedside assessment, patient interview, and medical record review.
• Uses critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots CP equipment (airways, ventilators, analyzers).
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas.
• Uses appropriate patient scripting to improve satisfaction.
• Performs other duties as required.
