Job summary

Methodist Southwest Medical Center in the Dallas area seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide ABG, PFT, and ventilator support for adults and neonates under indirect supervision. You will assess and treat patients across age groups, following departmental policies and procedures.

The position requires graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care Program, BLS and ACLS, NBRC RRT registration, Texas licensure, and at least 6 months of experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support — must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Texas license as Respiratory Care Practitioner in good standing.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Minimum 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapies including oxygen administration, weaning, humidity therapy, IPPB, incentive spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Perform and report prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and ECGs.
• Prepare a treatment evaluation from bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview, and medical records review.
• Interpret CXR, ABG, and PFT data to guide patient care.
• Assemble, check, operate, and troubleshoot cardiopulmonary equipment such as ventilators, oxygen analyzers, and gas analyzers.
• Participate in infection control, safety, and quality assurance activities.
• Perform cleaning and maintenance of all cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Utilize appropriate customer scripting to improve patient satisfaction.
• Perform other job duties as required.
