Job summary

Methodist Southwest Medical Center in the Dallas area is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to perform ABG, PFTs, and various ventilator support modalities for adults and neonates, under indirect supervision. You will assess and treat based on department policies and patient needs.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care Program, Texas license, NBRC registration, BLS and ACLS; NRP within one year of hire. At least six months of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support — must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics: oxygen, aerosol therapy, humidity therapy, airway maintenance, chest physiotherapy, CPR and ventilator management.
• Performs arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, PFTs and ECGs; reports findings.
• Prepares treatment evaluations including bedside assessments and chart reviews.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient status.
• Assembles, checks, and troubleshoots CP cardiopulmonary equipment.
• Contributes to infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas.
• Uses appropriate scripted communication to improve patient satisfaction.
