Job summary

Methodist Midlothian Medical Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide comprehensive respiratory care for adults and neonates in a 12-hour night shift (7pm-7am) with rotating weekends. Requires RRT credentials, BLS/ACLS, and state licensure in good standing.

The position involves ABG, PFT, ventilator support, and airway management under indirect supervision, with ongoing opportunities for professional development and neonatal care experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current ACLS certification.
• NRP and PALS must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Texas state license as Respiratory Care Practitioner in good standing; NBRC-registered.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration, weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and ECGs.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation including bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview, and review of medical record.
• Uses critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient information.
• Assembles, checks, operates, and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment such as ventilators, oxygen analyzers, and blood gas analyzers.
• Participates in infection control, safety, and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas.
