Job summary

Methodist Midlothian Medical Center in Texas is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a 12-hour night shift (7pm-7am), Monday through Friday with rotating weekends. The role covers ABG, PFTs, ventilation support, oxygen/ aerosol therapy, and airway management for adults and neonates, under indirect supervision.

Requires Texas license and NBRC registration. The ideal candidate has a respiratory care program credential, BLS/ACLS, and will obtain NRP/PALS within a year.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support — must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.
• NICU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapies including oxygen, aerosol and humidity therapy, airway maintenance and ventilation support.
• Conducts arterial blood gases, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function tests and ECGs; reports results.
• Performs bedside respiratory assessments, patient interviews and chart reviews.
• Uses critical thinking to determine appropriate actions and interventions.
• Interprets CXR, ABG and PFT data when reviewing patient information.
• Assembles and troubleshoots equipment such as ventilators, oxygen devices and gas analyzers.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance activities.
• Cleans and maintains cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Adheres to patient scripting to improve satisfaction; performs other duties as needed.

6 months respiratory experience

Education

Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program

Texas Respiratory Care Practitioner license

Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
