Job summary

MercyOne Health System in Dubuque, IA is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to assess patients, determine therapies, administer treatments, and monitor equipment across adult and geriatric populations.

The role includes inhaled therapies, arterial blood gas analysis, ventilatory support, and patient education, with an emphasis on teamwork, accuracy, and safety in a nocturnal, 12‑hour shift setting.

Qualifications

• Graduates from a CAAHEP‑accredited respiratory care program with certificate.
• Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC) credential.
• Iowa Respiratory Care Practitioner license currently or by hire.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers current or within 3 months of hire.
• Complete mandated reporter abuse training within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs inhaled medication therapy, arterial blood gas analysis, pulmonary function testing, chest physiotherapy and oxygen therapy.
• Assists in CPR, intubation, manages artificial airway, and transports patients on ventilatory support.
• Assembles and troubleshoots respiratory care equipment including ventilators and gas delivery systems.
• Interprets diagnostic results and documents findings for patient records.
• Provides patient instruction on device use and therapy, and ensures accurate billing documentation.

Education

CAAHEP‑accredited Respiratory Care Program certificate

NBRC Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist
