Job summary

MercyOne Health System in Waterloo, IA is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a full-time night shift. You will perform patient assessments, deliver inhaled therapies, monitor and adjust ventilatory support, and collaborate with physicians and nursing staff.

Qualifications

• Must be credentialed as a certified or registered respiratory therapist by the NBRC.
• Must have an active license as a respiratory care practitioner in the State of Iowa.
• Must be BLS certified within 3 months of hire.
• Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter; ACLS certification preferred within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs inhaled medication therapy, arterial puncture, blood gas analysis, pulmonary function testing, chest physiotherapy, oxygen therapy and ventilatory support as ordered.
• Participates in CPR and assists or performs intubation and management of artificial airway.
• Assembles, troubleshoots Respiratory Care equipment including ventilators and monitoring devices.
• Interprets diagnostic results such as blood gas analysis and pulmonary function tests.
• Performs medical record documentation and billing related to respiratory care procedures.
• Provides patient instruction in use of respiratory care devices and procedures.
