Job summary

Atkore International is seeking a Material Handler / Grinder for the 3rd shift in Binghamton, NY. Responsibilities include packaging, recycling scrap PVC, safety, and maintaining an organized workspace. Must lift up to 50 pounds and have 1–2 years of related experience; lean manufacturing experience is a plus.

The role includes operating PVC extrusion lines, adjusting line changes, and ensuring products meet specifications. Compensation starts at $18.50/hr with potential bonuses and overtime.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years related experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
• Good understanding of basic math required for quick and accurate counting and calculations.
• Attention to detail, time management, and organization.
• Must be adaptable to changes in the work environment and able to lift 50 pounds unassisted.

Responsibilities

• Confirm product with schedule.
• Assist with Quality Control duties including monitor saw cuts, pipe length, Bell fit, print line confirmation, chamfer/bevel, and reference line spacing.
• Package finished pipe in proper crate quantities.
• Weigh and transport finished product.
• Cut crate boards to proper lengths and adjust if needed.
• Process re-grind / scrap pipe.
• Assist with the running of the PVC extrusion lines.
• Help with changeovers and stringing the line downstream and through the saw.
• Understand how to get pipe into specification.
• Identify pipe products that are out of specification.
• Perform maintenance and cleanup for production and storage areas.
• Prioritize tasks effectively to manage time in order to be proficient with all material handling and packaging devices.
• Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
