Atkore in Town of Kirkwood, NY is seeking a Material Handler/Grinder for the 2nd shift (3:00pm-11:00pm). The role involves confirming product with the schedule, assisting QC duties, weighing and transporting finished products, and feeding PVC extrusion lines.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years related experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
• Good understanding of basic math required for quick and accurate counting and calculations.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and organization.
• Adaptable to changes in the work environment, calm under changing demands.
• Must be able to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
• Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Confirm product with schedule.
• Assist with Quality Control duties including monitor saw cuts, pipe length, bell fit, print line confirmation, chamfer/bevel, and reference line spacing.
• Weigh and transport finished product.
• Cut crate boards to proper lengths and adjust if needed.
• Process re-grind / scrap pipe.
• Assist with the running of the PVC extrusion lines.
• Help with changeovers and stringing the line downstream and through the saw.
• Understand how to get pipe into specification.
• Identify pipe products that are out of specification.
• Perform maintenance and cleanup for production and storage areas.
• Prioritize tasks effectively to manage time with material handling and packaging devices.
• Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
