Job summary

MITER Brands is hiring an Extrusion Night Shift Production Supervisor in the Tacoma, WA area. You will lead a night crew (6:00pm–6:00am on a 2-2-3 schedule) and coordinate extrusion operations, safety, quality, and productivity to meet targets.

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Extrusion manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Lean process improvement principles and process management experience are valued.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Proficiency with production reporting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support extrusion production team members during night shift operations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.
  • Monitor daily production schedules to achieve output, quality, and efficiency targets.
  • Coordinate staffing, training, and shift assignments to meet operational needs.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain product quality standards and ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Conduct shift meetings and communicate production goals, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Track production metrics and prepare operational reports.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, scrap reduction, efficiency, and team member engagement.
  • Coach and develop team members through performance feedback and training.
  • Enforce company policies and maintain a positive, accountable work environment.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support overall plant performance and customer delivery expectations.

This position supervises the shift that runs on a 2, 2, 3 schedule from 6:00pm – 6:00am

MITER Brands, also known as Milgard, MI Windows & Doors and PGTI is one of the nation’s largest suppliers of vinyl windows and patio doors, with plants across the country. We are looking for a Production Supervisor for our Milgard Windows & Doors Vinyl Internal Supply location in Tacoma, WA. The Extrusion Night Shift Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating nightly production operations within the extrusion department at the Fife, Washington manufacturing facility. This role oversees production team members, ensures safety and quality standards are met, drives productivity, and supports continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining efficient plant operations during the night shift. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on manufacturing leader with experience in extrusion operations, team member development, and high‑volume production environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Extrusion manufacturing experience strongly preferred
  • Strong problem-solving and decision‑making skills
  • Must be an effective communicator, capable of teaching and generating results while enhancing the Milgard work environment and supporting the company's guiding principles
  • Continuous improvement operations experience (Units Per Hour, reduced costs, etc.)
  • To support Milgard’s Continuous Improvement culture, we would like strong background in LEAN process improvement principles and process management experience
  • Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Proficiency with production reporting systems
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and industrial equipment
