Job summary

Oldcastle APG, a CRH company, in Asheville, NC, is seeking a production machine operator to operate equipment following safety policies to produce high-quality precast concrete products. The role involves reading specifications, setting stops, monitoring output, and ensuring compliance with quality standards.

Responsibilities include routine machine maintenance, assisting with setup, and maintaining a clean, organized work area to meet deadlines and production targets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; or at least one month of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Basic understanding of electronics and programmable controllers
• Knowledge of hydraulics, electricity and tools
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic in all units of measure
• Must possess computer literacy and strong mechanical ability
• Leadership abilities preferred

Responsibilities

• Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
• Set stops or guides to specific lengths as indicated by scale, rule or templates
• Observe machine operation to detect product defects or machine malfunction
• Review product for inconsistencies or abnormal appearance assuring product meets quality requirements
• Perform routine machine maintenance
• Assist other operators to set up machines and other tasks to meet deadlines and complete production
• Maintain housekeeping in assigned area in a clear and orderly fashion
