Job summary

Sentara Leigh Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Med Surg/Specialties unit in Norfolk, VA. The role is full-time and night shift, roughly 6pm–6am, assisting nurses and caring for a variety of medical conditions on a 24-bed unit.

Primary duties include patient care, assisting with admissions/discharges, and ensuring safety under nurse supervision. A high school diploma and BLS are required within 90 days; CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or equivalent programs are acceptable.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• One of CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or equivalent programs acceptable.
• Experience in health care preferred.
• Able to observe patient conditions and report changes.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under supervision of a nurse.
• Support admissions and discharge processes.
• Ensure patient safety and comply with safety practices.
• Observe patients’ physical, mental, and emotional condition and report changes.
