Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Burn Trauma unit on a part-time night shift. The role includes nursing assistant tasks, phlebotomy, EKG testing, and specimen collection under RN supervision, with a focus on neurosurgical trauma and burn care.

The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and relevant certifications; BLS within 90 days. Weekend rotations and 24-hour weekly commitment apply, with competitive hourly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• One of the listed certifications or programs required (CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, Navy Corps School, EMS/EMT/Paramedic, RN/LPN/RT/PT clinical student)
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs, mobility, and ambulation; observe and report changes.
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, EKGs, and specimen collection.
• Assist with Foley catheter insertion and removal and IV removal.
• Document accurately under RN supervision.
