Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Burn Trauma unit. This full-time, day-shift role covers 7 AM to 7 PM with rotating weekends on a 36-hour week across three 12-hour shifts.

The PCT will support daily living activities, vital signs, mobility, phlebotomy, EKGs, and specimen collection under RN supervision. A wide range of CNA/EMR-like certifications are accepted.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Multiple accepted care-partner certifications or related programs.
• One year healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with daily living activities.
• Monitor vital signs, mobility, and ambulation.
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, EKG testing, and specimen collection.
• Assist with Foley catheter placement/removal and IV removal per RN direction.
• Document patient status accurately and report changes to the nurse.
