Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the Neuro Intermediate Care unit in Norfolk, VA. This full-time position covers the night 7PM–7AM shift with three 12-hour rotations and weekend rotation.

The PCT will support daily living activities, monitor vitals, perform phlebotomy and EKGs, and document patient status under RN supervision. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, BLS within 90 days, and CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or equivalent certifications,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• One of the listed certifications or active clinical program participation expected.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• One year of health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Support independence and dependent activities; monitor vitals.
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and EKG testing.
• Assist with IV removal, specimen collection, and Foley catheter care.
• Document observations and report changes to RN/medical staff.
