Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Safety Observer for the night shift to support patient safety and comfort. Responsibilities include assisting patients with daily living activities, maintaining safety checks, and collaborating with nursing staff.

The role may involve transport duties and multitasking within a float capacity. Applicants should have a High School diploma, CPR certification within six months, and prior healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR Certification within 6 months of hire.
• Previous healthcare experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains good human relations with patients and families.
• Observe for suicidal and/or violent behavior and keep the patient in view at all times.
• Monitor visitors to ensure no unsafe materials are shared with the patient.
• Maintain 15-minute checks with documentation.
• May transport patients as directed by licensed staff.
• Assist with making beds, stocking, and assisting with transporting patients.
• Float to areas with patient needs as assigned.
• Maintain patient dignity and advocate for the patient.
