Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Full-time night shift PCA/unit secretary to support patient care and clerical tasks in the department. You will perform direct patient care under a Clinical Nurse, ensure a clean patient environment, and assist with scheduling tests, maintaining records, and signing patients in/out of the unit.

Requires a High School Diploma or GED, current BLS certification, and prior acute patient care experience or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• CPR may be required to complete Unit Secretary training program.
• Requires previous comparable acute patient care experience or successful completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Requires current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or attainment at the completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Requires basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Requires knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Requires knowledge of infection control.
• Requires basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the direction of a Clinical Nurse.
• Perform unit clerical duties and support the patient care team.
• Maintain a clean and orderly patient environment.
• Provide information, directions and assistance to physicians, patients, families, customers and vendors.
• May schedule tests and procedures and maintain patient records.
• May sign patients in and out of the unit and assist with equipment/supplies.
• May provide continuous observation including suicide prevention.
