Job summary

IU Health in Indiana is seeking a Part-Time Day Unit Secretary/PCA to provide direct patient care and essential clerical support for the care team. The role supports physicians, patients, families and vendors, and helps keep the unit organized and efficient.

As part of the patient care team, you will assist with tests and procedures, maintain records, and help ensure a clean, safe environment. The position may include suicide prevention observation as required by unit policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPR may be required to complete Unit Secretary training program.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology are required.

Responsibilities

• Direct patient care under the direction of a Clinical Nurse.
• Provide unit clerical support to the patient care team.
• Maintain patient records and sign patients in and out of the unit.
• Schedule tests and procedures when needed.
• Ensure a clean and orderly environment for patients, families and staff.
• May assist with ordering, receiving and delivering equipment and supplies.
• May provide continuous observation including suicide prevention as required by unit policies.
