Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• CPR may be required to complete Unit Secretary training.
• Requires prior acute patient care experience or completion of IU Health PCA education program.
• Basic Life Support certification (BLS) through AHA or IU Health PCA program.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and unit clerical duties under a Clinical Nurse.
• Support the patient care team and ensure a clean, orderly environment.
• Provide information and directions to physicians, patients, families, customers and vendors.
• May schedule tests, maintain patient records, and sign patients in/out.
• Handle ordering, receiving and delivering of equipment and supplies for the team.
• May provide continuous observation including suicide prevention.
