Job summary

Mercy Health is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Med Surg unit at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg. The PCT provides direct patient care under RN guidance, focusing on safety, comfort, and accurate documentation, with emphasis on mobility, hygiene, and patient support in a nights shift.

Training in EPIC EHR is preferred. The role requires recent acute care experience, BLS certification, and eligibility for nursing aide credentials; you’ll work within a collaborative

Qualifications

• BLS Basic Life Support certification required before hire.
• Nursing aide training or equivalent required; CST/STNA/CNA or nursing program with clinicals acceptable.
• RSF locations may require specific certifications or clinical training; multiple pathways listed in the ad.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care including comfort, hygiene, and mobility.
• Report changes and concerns to the nurse, acting as liaison.
• Deliver high-quality customer service to patients and families.
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the EHR.
• Assist with hand-off reports and patient transfers between units.
