Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Patient Care Tech (PCT) to provide direct patient care under Registered Nurse supervision in accordance with regulations and hospital policies. The role includes performing routine tasks, observation, vital sign collection, and basic bedside procedures.

The ideal candidate may be a nursing student (first clinical semester completed), with STNA/CNA certification or at least 1 year of aide experience in hospital or LTC settings, and must have BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• STNA/CNA certification or acute care training with certification.
• Nursing student who has completed first acute care hospital-based clinical experience.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Performs general patient care including bathing, hygiene, changing linens and feeding.
• Observes patient responses and reports deviations to RN and physician.
• Obtains and records vital signs, height and weight; assists with range of motion.
• Assists with wound care, catheterizations, specimen collection and basic bedside tests.
• Ensures patient comfort and safety, follows universal precautions and aseptic technique.
